Declined add neonoir_impossible_test_4 back?

i'm not a fan at all of the new version(s) and i much preferred test4. maybe it can be added back into the rotation with the current version, like how there are 2 castle_stevehs, with one being the older one. or how there used to be 2 versions of cocanium, both of them being the xmas ones but i think one of them had a motivator?

if test4 was removed for bugs and other issues i wouldn't know since i never experienced any, except maybe for a bit of lag at the spawn because of the red boxes, but that's a computer problem, not a fault of the map. truth be told the new versions, except for the minigames which are pretty cool, seem kind of cheap, almost? or like a knockoff version? i can't describe it, 'nd im not trying to downplay buns work either. they are cool, i just madly like test4 way more than the new ones

I can add both maps to the map cycle as long as there's support for it.

maybe edit it a little bit, add the mini games of the neonoir v10 to the map but revert spinner and devil's true colors to the v6 one because in my opnion the nerfed spinner and devil's true colors isn't fun to play anymore

I'll just list the cons about doing this, since all of the pros have already been listed above.

Test4 still has bugs and exploits, such as being able to skip traps. Perhaps this could be fixed using Source:Stripper? Never tried. Might be more effort than it's worth.

Often after Neonoir, we then end up playing technoir (and vise versa). I see there being a fair chance of people going for neonoir, then other neonoir, then technoir. That would get very wearing very quickly. I guess you could argue that there's enough stuff that has changed to make it feel like a different map and therefore wouldn't be boring, and while you'd be half right, there's still plenty of stuff that hasn't changed, mainly the start and end. I guess that's a weak argument on my behalf but furthermore, the theme hasn't changed of course, so approximately 2 hours+ of the same kinda themed parkour map(s) would get on ANYONE'S nerves.

Personally, I don't want two versions of the same map on the server. There's not too many universal arguments I can use to support this vote, but oh well I tried. -1

the thing is that it takes so long on this server before we can play a map again. is it possible to make it that you need to play 1 different map before you can nominate technoir or the different neonoir version

I made an account here just to say that the latest versions are so drastically changed and nerfed it's sad. Like there was no point of nerfing the end of the map, such as removing that one bit completely, halving the spikes and for some reason making the end of the strafe bit further away.
Imo v6 would be great to add back but test4 is good too.

i think bunsy made the map shorter due to technical reasons. not sure tho but a lot of stuff have been removed over time there has to be a reason for it but i totally agree with the mini games the nerf sucks i wish bunsy could undo that by bringing back the v6 spinner and devil's true colors

i remember my heart beating like crazy while i was playing the spinner on v6 neonoir the pressure was so much and now it's really some jumping and moving around. in addition, we found a glitch on the spinner basically you can stand on a spot and avoid all lasers all you need to do is keep jumping to win. i've seen someone do it recently

What are the bugs and exploits are present with that version of the map?

First one I can think of is being able to skip the flame trap(s?) near the end because of no clip brush. Again, maybe possible to fix with Source:Stripper, but that would create another edict, and while doing some digging, I came across a post made by the map author when Skial tried bringing back test4.

TL;DR for this image, test4 can crash the server (pretty big bug), trying to fix any bugs with source stripper would probably make it more likely to crash because it requires adding more entities to the map, possibly server-side ones (especially for that trap skipping one), some people won't be able to play it, or at least play it well because of less optimisation than the most recent version.

Alright, thanks for the info.

While this map does have lots of support for it, we can not add maps that have server-crashing and game-breaking bugs such as this.

I'll leave this thread open, though, for one last possibility:
Imo v6 would be great to add back
Is v6 any better?

So v6 and v6x suffers from a few bugs, and I think it still has edict problems. I think edict crashes were fixed in the more recent versions. After v7 we have nearly what we have today and so it really wouldn't be worth it.

I still don't see a point of 2 of the same maps but oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
