Pink guy to Joji
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand SpongeBob SquarePants. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of marine biology most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also SpongeBob’s Cartesian outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Meditations on First Philosophy by René Descartes, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Spongebob truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Patrick's existencial catchphrase "No, this is Patrick," which itself is a cryptic reference to Descarte’s philosophical proposition “I think therefore I am.” I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Stephen Hillenburg's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Spongebob tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

The only American cartoon I watch is Adventure Time. It's not exactly a kids' show as you watch it, but if you have a very deep understanding over fictitious characters, story, morals lessons and the messages passed through art through animation from the animators, it becomes great. Just like most Japanimations/anime. I remember watching Spongebob dubbed in french (our local cartoon channels were in french), and it wasn't like I watch it now. I prefer watching any media an original language, as the originality is erased in dubbed versions
Some cartoons also include adult humor, where kids do not really understand what it means.

E.g:

Corals mating=Marine porn, Sponge-bob freaks over when Gary comes in.

MANY American cartoons have these types of jokes

It's good you mentioned many features, such as philosophy and "I think, Therefore I am" is my favorite western philosophical quote.

IMHO most memes involving Spongebob are dead and unfunny. It was a good show when I was younger, though as time passed, it grew less and less enjoyable to me in a comedic sense. I don't even really like this copypasta since it's just the original one but instead of Rick and Morty it's Spongebob. No hate towards you @Spingebill though :p.
